MADE IN ITALY

We are Italian, those dirty, rowdy, unruly, funny, folkloristic, poor and sometimes mafia …. but we are also the ones who built the streets, the schools, taught the alphabet, explained the laws, the law, the organization of the state and the creation of that of law. We, the Italians, are the authors of the works that fill the museums, of inventions, those who with enormous expenses and sacrifices find themselves having to conserve and manage well over 70% of the world’s cultural and artistic heritage, asking you for a ridiculously small amount for the ticket of the museums and sometimes not even that. We are the Italians, we are the ones who offered you the art and culture on which our and your civilization is based, the maximum expression of beauty, harmony, balance that the human being has ever achieved. It is we, art, geography, economy, education. We are the Italians who created the Parmiggiano, the Mozzarella, the Prosciutto, the Mortadella, the Salami, the Ravioli, the Tortellini, the Lasagna, the ice cream, the Pizza etc. etc., those who brought the vineyards to France and who taught you how to make wine, grappa, spirits, those who fight your attempts every year to mimic our products and copy their name but also their style and fashion.
We taught you about navigation and you learned it well!

To all of you, when you call, think of Meucci, when you watch TV or listen to the radio, think of Marconi, when you use electricity as if there was no tomorrow, you think you could not have done it if there hadn’t been Fermi!
We Italians have invented banks, universities, perspective, architecture, engineering, astrophysics, calendar, music and other wines.
They were Italian: Giotto, Colombo, Marco Polo, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Bernini, Tiziano, Raffaello, Brunelleschi, Galileo, Cesare, Ottaviano, Vespasiano, Aurelio, Dante and I could continue for hours …
My dear, in hearing the name ITALY, you should jump to your feet, lower your head and be aware that the origin of western society is here, if we ask you for help you should run, because if you drag the world back into the Middle Ages I don’t know if there is we will do it again to revive civilization.
If, on the other hand, you are not interested, then please take pleasure in what you have, stay and admire a few tons of bolted iron and when you visit your museums, please skip the works of the Italians …. you will finish your visit very quickly, so you can go to immediately visit a beautiful car factory, diesel perhaps, of those that do not pollute only at the controls, go to visit what are castles for you and banal villas for which we are full, or go to the gambling capital that mimics Venice , Florence, Rome, go ahead! Avoid coming to visit the most beautiful country in the world since you have stabbed him in the back, we will welcome with open arms to those who have helped us in times of need, we will open our unique cities in the world to them, they will be able to visit Venice, Rome, Florence , Genoa, Naples, Bologna, Pisa, Lucca, Assisi, Siena, Turin, Palermo, Agrigento, Milan, Cremona, Mantova, Ferrara, Tuscany, Monferrato, the Dolomites, the Alps, Puglia, Sardinia, etc.etc .

  1. While I have mostly forgotten the language, I have not forgotten the joy of living in Firenze for 2 years. I am 57, born in America and the only place I have felt true peace and joy was in Italy. My mother was there a total of 13 years. She is on her deathbed with perhaps hours to live and I am deeply saddened that I was unable to keep my promise of returning her to the only place where she felt at home. I have to find a way to keep other two promises I made as she lay dying. The first one is spreading her ashes in Florence someday and the second is that I start writing again.

You are so blessed to live in the most beautiful country in the world.
I love your post! Very informative and well written. Thank you
